Kukuru (Takoyaki)

Do you know Takoyaki ?
Takoyaki is ball shaped octopus dumpling, which is popular in Osaka, Japan.
Takoyaki is made from flour, Japanese soup stock and octopus.
It is crisp on the surface, and the interior is juicy.

Kukuru is one of the most popular shops of Takoyaki in Osaka.
Large model of octopus is a sign of this restaurant.

We can eat Akashiyaki in addition to Takoyaki inside of the shop.  Akashiyaki is a kind of variation of Takoyaki.

It contains more Japanese soup stock in it and very soft.
Many people waits in front of the shop, and you may be forced to wait for more than 30 minutes.  However, Takoyaki of Kukuru is worth of procession.

Nakamura Tokichi Honten

Nakamura Tokichi Honten is a Japanese tearoom.
It located in Uji, Kyoto, which is the famous place of production of Japanese tea.

When you pass through the shop curtain, you will find beautiful garden.

In this garden, we can warm ourselves at a hibachi, a Japanese heating appliance using charcoal as fuel.
Hibachi is rarely seen in Japan now.  It softly warms us.

The specialty of this tearoom is Nama-cha jelly, which is the fresh tea jelly with green tea ice cream and a bean jam.

Green tea and Japanese sweets are also appreciated

Ippodo Tea Co. 一保堂茶舗

Ippodo is one of the most famous store of Japanese tea, which was opened nearly 3 centuries ago.
We can buy various kinds of Japanese tea of the finest quality.  Furthermore, we can enjoy the Japanese teas and Japanese sweets in the KABOKU tearoom.

Since the menu is written in Japanese and English, foreigners can easily select what they want.

Interestingly, we can brew tea by ourselves in the KABOKU tearoom.  The staffs kindly teach us how to brew in Japanese traditional way.
Today, I tasted Sencha (煎茶) and To-en (桃園).  Sencha is a kind of green tea made from sprouts of tealeaves.

To-en is a bun with a bean-jam filling.in the shape of peach, which is the specialty in the spring.
